What To Expect From Therapy

An Approach That Works For You

There isn’t a single “right” way to approach therapy — because different things work for different people.

What matters is finding a way of working that genuinely helps you make sense of what’s going on and begin to move forward.

I draw on a range of established approaches, which allows us to look at things from different angles — whether that’s understanding patterns in how you think and feel, working through emotional experiences, or finding practical ways to respond differently in everyday situations.

For some people, that means making sense of where things come from.
For others, it’s about learning how to relate differently to thoughts, feelings, or situations in the present.

Often, it’s a combination of both.

The focus is always on what actually helps — not just understanding things intellectually, but creating meaningful shifts in how you experience yourself and your life.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy.
Some people come with something specific they want help with. Others just know that something doesn’t feel right, but can’t quite put it into words yet.

We can work in a way that suits you — whether that’s a few sessions focused on a particular difficulty, or longer-term support where we take more time to explore things in depth.

However we work, the aim is the same: to offer a space that feels warm, grounded, and supportive, where you can begin to make sense of what’s happening for you at your own pace.

At times, we might focus on what’s going on in your life right now — helping you navigate stress, anxiety, loss, or relationship challenges. At other points, we may gently explore how past experiences and patterns are shaping how you feel and respond in the present.
In practice, this often unfolds naturally. You might start with one thing, and as trust builds, the work deepens in a way that feels right for you.

It’s a collaborative process throughout and something we work through together, guided by what feels most helpful for you.
