Working Therapeutically
I predominantly work online, supporting clients from all areas of the UK & NI.
Whether this is your first time seeking therapy or you’ve not worked online with a therapist before, the information below can help you understand the benefits and prepare you for your session.
Therapy Online
Working together online offers many of the same benefits as meeting in a therapy room — and research consistently shows it is just as effective for a wide range of issues. What matters most is the quality of the therapeutic relationship, and that connection can be built just as deeply through a secure video call, in the comfort of your own space, allowing you to access support wherever you are.

Online therapy can bring particular advantages:

-
Accessibility – You can meet from the comfort of your own home or a private space of your choosing, removing the need to travel and making therapy possible even if mobility, distance, or health make it harder to attend in an external room.
-
Flexibility – Without the limits of location, scheduling can be easier and more convenient, allowing therapy to fit more smoothly into your daily life.
-
Comfort & Privacy – Being in a familiar environment can help some people feel more at ease and open during sessions.
-
Continuity – If you move house, travel for work, or experience unexpected changes, online therapy means you can keep your sessions consistent.

Many clients find that meeting online allows them to speak more freely and focus more deeply, and the technology quickly becomes secondary to the human connection we create. Whether you are seeking support for the first time or returning to therapy, online sessions offer a safe, flexible, and effective way to engage in meaningful therapeutic work.

Preparing for Your Online Session
To help you get the most from your therapy time, a little preparation can make the experience smoother and more comfortable.

Find a private space
Choose a quiet room where you won’t be interrupted. Let anyone you live with know you need privacy for the duration of the session.

Check your connection
A stable internet connection makes conversation easier. Using headphones can improve sound quality and add a sense of privacy.

Set up your device
Position your phone, tablet, or laptop so you can see the screen comfortably and keep your hands free. Have a charger nearby just in case.

Create a calming atmosphere
A comfortable chair, a drink of water or warm drink, or a favourite blanket can help you settle. Give yourself a few minutes beforehand to pause and breathe.

After the session
Allow a little time afterwards if you can—whether that’s a short walk, a cup of tea, or simply a few quiet minutes—to reflect and ground yourself before moving on with your day.
